Concept
The proposal addresses the theme of double-aging in urban areas by transforming old tenement buildings into vibrant intergenerational living spaces. It suggests preserving the existing structures while reorganizing layouts to accommodate the distinct needs of elderly and younger residents. A vertical common living area is central to the design, offering facilities and spaces that promote communication and knowledge exchange across generations. The ground-level integration with the existing street market preserves the familiar urban fabric while enhancing community vitality. Accessibility is prioritized through barrier-free design, ensuring mobility and independence for residents with physical challenges. This inclusive approach fosters interaction, mitigates social isolation, and improves quality of life. By combining thoughtful spatial optimization and community-focused strategies, the proposal creates a welcoming environment where elderly residents can live happily and with dignity, while strengthening intergenerational bonds and enriching the communal living experience.
